Today much of the Oregon Trail follows roughly along Interstate 80 from Wyoming to Grand Island, Nebraska. From there U.S. Highway 30 which follows the Platte River is a better approximate path for those traveling the north side of the Platte.

Oregon Trail Historic Byway. Torrington | Park to Park. The Oregon Trail Historic Byway begins on US 26 at the Wyoming/Nebraska border. From there it follows US 26 west through Torrington, Lingle, Fort Laramie, and Guernsey to the intersection with Interstate 25 at Dwyer Junction.
