Snowy Egrets are found in Louisiana all year. They occur in 22% of summer checklists and 19% of winter checklists. Snowy Egrets, as their name suggests, are small, all-white herons. They have yellow irises and skin around their eye, long, black bills, long, black legs, and bright yellow feet.
Appearance-wise, Great Egrets are the most stunning heron found in Louisiana. These birds especially put on a show during breeding season when they grow long feathery plumes, called aigrettes , which are held up during courtship displays.

A fairly large, powerfully built but elegant heron. Reddish Egrets have long, sturdy legs, long necks, and thick, daggerlike bills. The feathers of the head and neck are often extended, giving a shaggy appearance. Larger than a Snowy Egret, smaller than a Great Egret.
