The Louisiana State Police Training Academy maintains a training program to train our future Troopers to have self-discipline, technical competence, empathy, physical well-being, and emotional intelligence.
All of our Cadet Classes are conducted at our Training Academy in Baton Rouge, LA. The LSP Training Academy is a residential academy with cadets required to stay at the academy Sunday-Friday of each week. JESTC is a state of the art training complex providing world class training opportunities. It is maintained and operated by the Louisiana State Police and is located just north of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Application. You may download an application to apply to become a State Trooper at the Louisiana State Police Commission (LSPC) website or by using the link below. LSPC is responsible for the application and initial Cadet test.
Academy. Applicants who are given a final conditional offer of employment must graduate from the Baton Rouge Police Academy before becoming an officer. Individuals who complete this competitive Academy receive the best, most comprehensive training across all key subjects, listed below.
The cadet exam is offered on a daily basis in Baton Rouge, LA; however, the State Police Commission is now offering the option of scheduling through an online proctoring service in an effort to allow greater flexibility for testers.
