The Bible teaches us there is great power in love. Love for one another conforms us to the example of Jesus and makes us look more and more like our perfect heavenly Father. John is convinced that loving God and loving others cannot be divorced.
Jesus highlights the call to love God with all that we are as the greatest commandment in the Bible, as expressed in Deuteronomy 6:4-5. This is followed by and closely related to the command in Leviticus 19:18 to love your neighbor as yourself.
get God‟s. Several times in the Bible God gives us His thoughts on love. We find it in Song of Songs 8:5-14, 1 Corinthians 13, and here in I John 4:7-21. John has addressed the subject of love already in 2:7-11 as an indication one is walking in the light and in 3:11-24 as evidence one is a child of God. Yet it is here, in 4:7-21,
16 Φεβ 2020 · What does the Bible have to say about love? Where is the intersection of love and faith? I want to begin with two encounters, both of which left a very deep impression on me. The first was a rather brief encounter with a man, a white man, in his mid-forties.

Of all the forces in the world, love is the most powerful. It is more powerful than any physical force: sarcasm, rebuke, argument, hate, etc. Let us, in this lesson, consider the power of love from three angles.
God’s love for me is not tied to any worth or value of my own. As a believer in Jesus, I am not into self-esteem—I’m into Christ-esteem. I appreciate what God has done, through Jesus. My spirit is born again, but I still have flesh—so that part of me doesn’t contribute to my relationship with God.
