14 Δεκ 2021 · Oligohydramnios is when you have low amniotic fluid during pregnancy. Your healthcare provider diagnoses low amniotic fluid using an ultrasound. Oligohydramnios can cause pregnancy complications or be a sign of an underlying health condition.
When there's too little amniotic fluid in your uterus at any point in your pregnancy, it's called oligohydramnios. Low amniotic fluid is most common late in the third trimester, particularly if you're overdue, and usually won't result in any complications for your baby.
Low amniotic fluid can result from your water breaking, from a puncture in the amniotic sac after amniocentesis or from a spontaneous fluid leak at any point during pregnancy that’s so small it may go unnoticed.
24 Μαΐ 2022 · Pathophysiology. The volume of amniotic fluid increases steadily until 33 weeks of gestation. It plateaus from 33-38 weeks, and then declines – with the volume of amniotic fluid at term approximately 500ml.
Too little amniotic fluid surrounding your baby is called oligohydramnios, and too much fluid is called polyhydramnios, or hydramnios. Having low amniotic fluid is a fairly common problem. It affects about one in 25 pregnant women, rising to one in 10 women whose pregnancy goes beyond 41 weeks.
