Volunteers are the backbone of the Houston Humane Society’s mission of helping homeless pets. Volunteers work to bring comfort and care to the abused, neglected and abandoned animals in our care. Become part of our Volunteer team at the Houston Humane Society!
PFL staff and volunteers will walk through the community conducting door-to-door outreach. Through this initiative, PFL offers pet owner support services, including veterinary care, supplies, and information, all at no cost. This assistance is targeted to a designated area within the community.
Animal shelter caring for homeless and stray animals in need through sheltering, adoption, humane education, spay/neuter services, low-cost wellness clinic, and community outreach.
CAP’s low-cost vaccination and wellness clinic is open every Saturday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and provides affordable vaccinations and basic wellness services to the community. Volunteers assist with client check-in, completing paperwork, and overseeing an orderly process.
Special Pals, founded in 1979, is Houston’s longest-running no-kill animal shelter. We’re dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing animals while advocating for a compassionate community through our education and outreach initiatives.

There is always a need for passionate volunteers to assist with walking dogs, feeding wildlife, assisting with cleaning, helping to socialize pets, etc. What are the days and hours I can volunteer? Volunteers are welcome to serve at the Houston SPCA seven days a week, from 7 am to 6pm after completing orientation and training.
