The alveoli have a large surface area and receive oxygen from the blood that goes through an exchange of gases, allowing carbon dioxide to be removed. The respiratory bronchioles inside a secondary pulmonary lobule gives rise to two or more alveolar ducts.
30 Οκτ 2023 · The lung alveoli are the balloon-like air sacs loacted at the distal ends of the bronchial tree. There are as many as 700 million alveoli in each lungs, where they facilitate gaseous exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide between inhaled air and the bloodstream.

An alveolus (plural: alveoli, from Latin alveus, "little cavity"), is an anatomical structure that has the form of a hollow cavity. Mainly found in the lung, the pulmonary alveoli are spherical outcroppings of the respiratory bronchioles and are the primary sites of gas exchange with the blood.
