Through the Scholarships Program of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), the LWF works alongside its member churches (MCs) in strengthening holistic mission and promoting participatory leadership, good governance, women’s empowerment, gender justice and youth participation.
Each LWF member church is eligible to apply for five regular and two short-term scholarships. At least 40% of the endorsed candidates, both in the category of theology and diakonia, should be female and at least 20% should be youth below the age of 30 years.

11 Ιουλ 2018 · An endorsement by the respective LWF member church is required. Each LWF member church can submit up to five applications, respecting the LWF quota of 40 percent men/ women and 20 percent young adults below the age of 30 years.
Through the International Leaders Program the ELCA provides academic scholarships to about 200 individuals from global companion churches and institutions each year. ELCA scholars study a variety of subjects at all academic levels at schools around the world.

Applicants may submit the ELCA application before gaining admission to an academic program, but an acceptance letter is eventually required before a scholarship award can be activated. How are scholars selected?
