License Renewals. Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) and Psychiatric Technicians (PTs) are required to renew their license every two years. Satisfactory completion of continuing education (CE) is required for an "active" license in addition to a social security number.
BreEZe enables consumers to verify a professional license and file a consumer complaint. Licensees and applicants can submit license applications, renew a license and change their address among other services.
Your employer may verify your renewed license online using the DCA License Search system or by calling the Board at (916) 322-3350. You may also request a confirmation letter for a fee of $20.00 that verifies your license status.
Requirements for vocational nurse licensure are specified in the Vocational Nursing Practice Act. There are five (5) methods by which one may qualify for the licensure examination. Each method is designed to provide an individual access into the job market as an entry-level practitioner.
As a courtesy, renewal notices are mailed out approximately three months prior to the expiration date of the license. If you have not received a renewal notice, you can renew online through BreEZe Online Services. To ensure receipt of renewal notices, always keep the Board informed of any changes in address of record.
Note: If you cannot link your license to your Breeze USER ID, call the Board of Registered Nursing Help Desk @916-322-3350 M-F 8:00 – 5:00 PST. You should see the Quick Start menu screen. Under the License Activities You should see It is time to Renew! Click on the blue Select box.
