What are the pro and cons of each? I want to learn VOR but gps is just so much easier to use. Do I really need to learn VOR other than just learning a new skill of navigating?
5 Μαΐ 2014 · The real benefit of GPS accuracy when flying a VOR approach occurs when you’re flying the initial segment, almost all of which would be more than 6 NM from a VOR at the FAF. Not only would GPS keep you closer to the centerline, but more scalloping occurs on a VOR signal at that distance.

In this article, we'll explain the new VOR service volumes, and review the legacy ones. Since 2016, the FAA has been decommissioning VORs across the US, as they move towards GPS related navigation systems.
