The M103 heavy tank (officially designated 120mm gun combat tank M103, initially T43) [3] was a heavy tank that served in the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps during the Cold War.

30 Αυγ 2024 · 120mm Gun Tank M103 in Radcliff, Kentucky. Perhaps the most striking feature of the M103 heavy tank was its massive turret, in which the commander and gunner sat far to the rear. The bore evacuator on the 120mm gun is visible near the muzzle.
The M103 was the late offspring of the US heavy tank projects T30 and finally the T43 which led to the M46 and M47 tanks. It was designed to counter the soviet heavy tanks JSIII. The inital T43 were of such poor performance that they were never declared ready for active service.
