18 Οκτ 2019 · HI Apple, I recently updated to macOS Catalina. I understand that there is a Read Only Disk with the name "Macintosh HD" which has all the files related to OS and "Macintosh HD - Data" which is Read/Write. But when I use option "Finder->Preferences->General->Show these items on desktop: Hard Disks" I get "Macintosh HD" not "Macintosh HD - Data".

20 Μαΐ 2020 · What you have done is upset the logical volume "Macintosh HD". For security reasons macOS Catalina splits the logical boot volume, in your case "Macintosh HD" into two physical volumes, one for all the system files and another for the use data which has " - Data" put on the end of the name.

11 Ιουλ 2021 · My Mac is functioning fine as far as I can tell; however, I noticed that I no longer have a "Macintosh HD" disk. Instead I have "Macintosh HD - Data" and "Macintosh HD - Data - Data". Here's what it looks like in Disk Utility:
