The 10 Longest Rivers in Nevada. Colorado River is the sixth longest river in the United States and the longest river in Nevada. Nevada is the seventh largest state in the US but it is the ninth least populous. A large part of the state consists of desert and semi-desert within the Great Basin.
It is the only major river system wholly contained within the state of Nevada. It is the only natural transportation artery across the Great Basin and has historically provided a route for westward migration.
