10 Μαρ 2022 · State of D.C. Schools is an annual systemwide overview of public education in the District of Columbia. The report’s main purpose is to give D.C. residents, parents, caregivers, policymakers, and other stakeholders a snapshot of the overall performance of the District’s public schools.
Public School Enrollment by Race and Ethnicity. The majority of the public school student population in the District are Black. The number of Black students began leveling off and even slightly decreasing after SY2016-17; however, Black student enrollment started increasing in SY2022-23 and SY2023-24 again, approaching pre-pandemic levels.
