24 Αυγ 2021 · This article provides an overview of primary malignant and nonmalignant brain and other CNS tumor incidence, mortality, and survival rates and trends in the United States, as well as differences in occurrence by major histologic subtype, anatomic site, geography, race/ethnicity, and sex.
Brain cancer incidence and mortality: 2019 results. Worldwide, 347,992 new cases of brain cancer were recorded in 2019: it was diagnosed in 187,491 (54%) males and 160,501 (46%) females (Fig. 1, Fig. 2). In 2019, the total number of deaths from brain cancer worldwide was 246,253 (138,605 males and 107,648 females).
In 2018, cancer of the brain and central nervous system was the 17th most common cancer type, with an estimated 297 000 new cases worldwide. The study of the etiology of brain tumours is particularly challenging because of the relatively low incidence rates of brain and central nervous system cancers and the high heterogeneity of these tumours.
20 Φεβ 2019 · In 2016 at the global level, there were 330 000 (95% UI 299 000 to 349 000) incident cases of CNS cancer, with an age-standardised incidence rate of 4·63 per 100 000 person-years (95% UI 4·17 to 4·90), which significantly increased by 17·3% (95% UI 11·4 to 26·9) between 1990 and 2016.
Malignant brain tumor incidence rates declined by 0.8% annually from 2008 to 2017 for all ages combined but increased 0.5% to 0.7% per year among children and adolescents. 6 Μαΐ 2017 · Overall global incidence of malignant brain tumors was 5.57/100000 (95% CI = 5.55–5.60), and incidence of these tumors was highest in adults (Table 1). The IRs of all malignant brain tumors varied significantly among the 13 regions.
17 Σεπ 2022 · Brain and central nervous system (CNS) cancers include a complex and varied group of malignant cancers deriving from the brain and its surrounding structures. According to Global Cancer Statistics 2020, 308,102 new cases of brain and CNS cancers were diagnosed, and 251,329 cancer-related deaths occurred in 2020 worldwide [ 1 ].
