1 Μαρ 2022 · It has been investigated in distinct shallow water environments with high anthropization. However, the main sources of noise are man-made signals (Parbery-Clark et al., 2009), which can be either continuous or intermittent; occupying mainly low-frequency bands (Kuta and Richardson, 1996).
7 Ιουν 2024 · Now, climate change is altering the temperature and chemistry of the ocean, which could amplify underwater noise, a recent study found. But techniques to reduce emissions could have the side ...
With the growing utilization and exploration of the ocean, anthropogenic noise increases significantly and gives rise to a new kind of pollution: noise pollution. In this review, the source and the characteristics of noise in the sea, the ...
Researchers are uncovering just how large the impact of man-made noise is on ocean life. But there are some surprisingly simple ways we could tackle this overlooked pollution problem.
This handbook shows the latest research data and regulatory issues of man-made noise on marine mammals, turtles, amphibians, fishes, and invertebrates.
21 Αυγ 2018 · There is a growing body of evidence that the addition of man-made sound in the aquatic environment has the potential to affect the ability of fishes to detect and use the biologically relevant sounds that are important for their survival.
In the absence of man-made, biological, and transient sounds, ambient noise is wind dependent over the band from below 1 Hz to at least 50 kHz. Below 5-10 Hz, the dominant ambient noise source is the nonlinear interaction of oppositely propagating ocean surface waves.
