The Maritime Archaeology certificate program is an interdisciplinary field of study that merges knowledge in maritime history and archaeology to focus on how humans of the past interfaced with the world’s waterways. The certificate helps prepare students for graduate school in this field.

The goals of the Institute are to promote research and education through teaching and publication, in both print and visual media, in the maritime, social, and cultural history and archaeology of North America. This continent has a rich and varied maritime history, extending back thousands of years before its discovery by 15th century explorers.
24 Σεπ 2024 · For half a century, INA archaeologists have conducted fieldwork and research leading to the location, excavation, preservation, and publication of dozens of shipwrecks and other sites of nautical significance.
Since the inception of the program, we have awarded over 100 M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Archaeology. The mission of the Archaeology Program is to train students in the best interdisciplinary practices and techniques of archaeological investigation.
