  1. Apply / Renew License. ****Effective October 1, 2024, applicants who are required to pass an examination for a producer license will no longer be required to complete a program of study that has been approved by the Commissioner. This does not change Continuing Education requirements for producers.***. See Bulletin 24-19*** .

  2. Renewal Application. Individual producer licenses are issued on a biennial basis to expire on the last day of the producer’s birth month. Business entity licenses are issued to expire 2 years from the date of issuance. The renewal fee is $69 which includes the $54 renewal fee and $15 fraud prevention fee.

  3. The attached application and supplement may be used to renew or reinstate an existing Maryland Insurance producer license. Requirements: Producer License Applicants attach a check or money order for $69.00 to renew a license or $169 to reinstate a license.

  4. Initial License Application. To apply for a license as a Producer, in addition to passing the Producer exam, an individual must: pay the applicable fee of $54, required by Insurance Article, § 2-112, Annotated Code of Maryland; complete and submit the NAIC Uniform Individual Application.

  5. Reinstatements through the Resident License Application are allowed if license is inactive for over one (1) year and one (1) day after expiration date. Viatical settlement brokers must hold an active Maryland insurance producer License with the Life line of authority.

  6. All companies are expected to utilize the online company licensing renewal process. However, if there are extenuating circumstances that will not allow you to renew online, you may renew by submitting a paper application.
