Death certificates are public record, so any member of the public can obtain a copy at the city or town clerk's office where the death occurred. Death certificates are created for all cases that our office examines.

The Municipal Police Training Committee sets the standards for basic police training for candidates hired by individual police departments throughout the Commonwealth. Those police departments submit applications for their employee (or sponsored candidate) to our recruit academies.
Police Academy. The Police Officer Training Program draws from a list generated from Civil Service. To have your name appear on the eligibility list for the Springfield Police Department you must meet the minimum qualifications, pass an open competitive examination, and be a resident of the City of Springfield one (1) year prior to the exam date.
The NECC Police Academy is a full-service academy offering Basic Recruit and Veteran Officer In-Service training programs. It accommodates police training to approximately 70 area police departments from cities and towns across Eastern Massachusetts.
The MPTC program is a comprehensive 800-hour curriculum over a 20-week training period with hands-on training and classroom instruction. In Massachusetts, anyone may apply for the police training academies.
