In the following verses, Jesus will begin a memorable explanation of the right way to pray with the words, “ In this manner, therefore pray.”. Jesus then gave His disciples a model for prayer, prayer marked by close relationship, reverence, submission, and trust and dependence.
4 Ιαν 2022 · We should consider the lilies of the field because they remind us to trust our Heavenly Father to care for us and provide for our everyday needs. God loves us deeply and therefore will feed and clothe us. “In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind,” says Job 12:10.
In this verse, Jesus addresses the concerns of His disciples regarding daily necessities, particularly clothing. He uses the natural world as an illustration to convey a deeper spiritual truth: if God clothes the beautiful but transient lilies of the field, how much more will He provide for His children?
1. We are in great danger of; it is a subtle sin; vain-glory insinuates itself into what we do ere we are aware. The disciples would be tempted to it by the power they had to do many wondrous works, and their living with some that admired them and others that despised them, both which are temptations to covet to make a fair show in the flesh. 2.
As Jesus stated in the prior verse, worry and fear are of no use (Matthew 6:27). His purpose is to encourage believers to trust in God—to actively work at shedding anxiety—so their hearts and minds can be at rest.
