Chapter 6 starts with a discussion of prayer, fasting and giving. The chapter does not condemn these actions. It talks about proper motivation. Our egotistical -self wants to “serve as good examples”, so we parade our religious acts publicly. Ultimately, we are glorifying ourselves and not God.
