17 Μαρ 2019 · Mauser took a C/96 upper, cut the barrel off, and then threaded a new 7.63mm barrel into the barrel extension. They then masked the area of the cut and threading with the distinctive “hash” marks seen on these pistols.

11 Νοε 2009 · IIRC, the Imperial German Army in WWI contracted with Mauser for 150,000 C96 pistols re-chambered for the 9mm Parabellum cartidge (as used in the contemporary standard-issue Luger P08 pistols). The modification is said to be simple, only involving boring-out the barrels and chambers for the bigger bullet.

There is a cut in the rear of the firing pin for this tool, a flathead screwdriver, or a rim of a cartridge case.
The Mauser pre-fit barrels are made for the Mauser 48, 96 & 98 actions. They are chambered, crowned and finished. They will require a qualified gunsmith to install and cut the extractor slot in the barrel.
