9 Σεπ 2023 · Maximum and average G-forces in F1: F1 drivers can experience G-forces of up to 6G during braking and cornering, which is six times the force of gravity. During acceleration, G-forces can reach up to 4G or more.
So during braking from high speed you get max. deceleration (g-force) for a initial moment. During cornering you get lower g forces but for a much longer time. Generally they are just about equal, the limitation is the tire and track surface.
A sweeping, flowing, high-speed right-handed flick taken at more than 260kmh (161mph). A Formula One car will generate over 5G at the apex of the corner - the highest lateral G on the entire 2024 calendar - meaning in that moment the driver will feel a force five times their body weight.
Highest G force is a combination of high speed and tightest radius. Some corners are just barely taken flat out, but have wider radii and are on faster tracks where teams run less downforce (eg parabolica at monza).
