When drivers manoeuvre through high-speed corners, they are subjected to lateral or side-to-side G-forces that push them towards the side of the car. These forces can reach up to 5g, which means drivers feel a force on their bodies that is equal to five times their normal body weight.
A sweeping, flowing, high-speed right-handed flick taken at more than 260kmh (161mph). A Formula One car will generate over 5G at the apex of the corner - the highest lateral G on the entire 2024 calendar - meaning in that moment the driver will feel a force five times their body weight.
9 Σεπ 2023 · F1 Maximum G-Force: The maximum G-force an F1 car and driver can handle varies depending upon several factors, but it is typically within the range of 6Gs to 7Gs for lateral force during cornering and up to 5Gs for longitudinal force during acceleration or deceleration.
For context, a street sports car fully slamming on the brakes can hit around 1g, maybe a little more. At lower speeds like this incident (100mph to 68mph), F1 cars do not pull anywhere near peak g force. 2.6g is almost certainly pretty close to the limit.

The G force listed is a PEAK G. The human body can withstand much higher G for a short period, and most crash structure technology is designed for taking the energy out of an impact. So the tyre wall will soak up X energy, whilst the cars own crumple zone will absorb a small bit as well.
