The Dawn of the Black Hearts [a] (subtitled Live in Sarpsborg, Norway 28/2, 1990) is a bootleg live album by the Norwegian black metal band Mayhem. The title originates from a line of lyrics Fenriz of Darkthrone wrote for the band.
“De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas” is a landmark black metal album, and its cover art is just as infamous. But behind the stark image of Nidaros Cathedral lies a story of church burnings, murder, and allegations of a plot to destroy the very building pictured.
The cover displays the infamous photograph of Dead's corpse after he shot himself in the forehead with Euronymous' shotgun. On this release, the image is pretty clear for the most part, especially since most other releases of this bootleg use a pixelated, upscaled image for the cover.
