Did a very little research about it, mostly good reviews. But now seeing most of the post/comments here in reddit not recommending buying av software I feel bad about the purchase. Do I really made a bad deal?

Mcafee has one of the best antivirus engines in the world, with one of the highest detection ratios. People dislike it because of their marketing strategies. They bundle the software with so many useless additions such as file shredder which very few people use and pay computer manufacturers to pre-install it on new machines.
People like to force their opinions on others, do you own research but know something, most big AVs (such as McAffe itself) aren't bad, they will offer you protection against viruses, so you're mostly safe. Yes, there are better options, way better than McAffe, but is McAffe bad? No.
Paying for an AV as a consumer is not worth it. The free versions of Bitdefender and Kaspersky offer their full AV and behavioral engines without any bloat. It also isn't better than Microsoft Defender managed with DefenderUI, Defender offers similar protection with less CPU and RAM usage.
With the increasing prevalence of cyber threats targeting travelers like me lol, I am considering installing McAfee antivirus on my laptop to ensure the safety of my device and the confidentiality of my personal and business information.
