The answer from Przemyslaw Remin is mostly correct, however, upon reboot, "McAfee File and Removable Media Protection" starts again even if it is disabled from the Startup unless you have disabled the Encryption Core Services. Open Task Manager. Move to [Start up] tab.
Having this nightmare of a problem with McAfee Drive Encryption. In the lab environment, I install DE agent and DE, user gets a prompt to restart, they restart, then it pulls the policy and begins encryption. All good. At the pre-boot environment, they create a password, push next, boots to windows. All done.
