19 Ιουν 2010 · This is my first build and it only took me about 1hr to swap the barrel out and drimmel the barrel channel out some on a Dura Maxx stock. This rifle is showing signs of excellent accuracy. The first 4 5-shot groups I shot were .250,.267,.586,.526, Using 44.5gr of Varget behind a 168gr Hornady A-Max.
12 Δεκ 2020 · I have a McGowen barrel in a 22 x47 Lapua that shoots a wide range of bullets very well. Best group has been 5/8" 3 shot group at 750 yards. Just put one on an AR-15 and it shoots a one hole group time after time.
15 Απρ 2017 · My last two Shilen barrels were both Savage pre-fits. Both were select match quality. One is a 6.5CM that I had Shilen install / headspace for $75 - well worth it. This is installed on a Model 11 LWH and is contour S3 savage sporter. This barrel was a dream to break in and is very accurate.
1 Ιουν 2008 · I shot this group from the prone w/ bipod and squeeze bag support, in the grass/ gravel behind the 100 yd walkway on our range at work. The rifle is a Savage 116SS action, the McGowen barrel, B&C Duramaxx stock (bedded), Nikon BM 4.5-14x42 SFMD, and Harris bipod.
16 Αυγ 2011 · On my admittedly less than totally accurate dial scale the 16.5" fluted barrel weighed approximately 2.5 lbs as compared to the 3.5 lbs the factory target barrel weighed. The balance in my stock with the sightmark red dot feels good.
25 Νοε 2014 · Perhaps you can find a gunsmith fitting McGowen barrels to actions that will guarantee the precision you desire. Custom rifle gunsmith's using Krieger, Bartlein, Brux, and Lilja barrels will commonly guarantee that their completed rifles will shoot 1/2moa 3-shot groups.
18 Ιουν 2007 · I have a McGowen 28" SS barrel with a muzzle brake, 1:11 twist in a .300WM matched to a Savage 110 action. Had it for over 10 years and it still shoots +or- 9fps. I cannot believe the accuracy and being able to hit pie plates at 1,300yds. I would highly recommend dealing with them on a custom setup!
