19 Ιουν 2010 · Hello Hiders, wondering if anyone has tried a barrel from McGowen Precision. I'm looking at possibly buying a new barrel for a savage action from them in .223. The purpose is for paper punching and prairie dog hunting, so accuracy is THE main goal.
12 Δεκ 2020 · I have heard a mix bag of reviews on the McGowen barrels. I ordered one last year simply because of the lead times on when I needed it. I have been able to work up loads in that 3/4 MOA range without a ton of trouble.
30 Μαΐ 2019 · This McGowen barreled R700 will do this as consistently as the shooter can keep it together. It has shot several 5 shot one hole groups and sometimes it puts 5 in the .4s but it is a good shooting rifle for the money I have in it. It's a consistently accurate sub 1/2 MOA rifle to 1000 yds.
30 Σεπ 2022 · I have a McGowen 260 barrel on a Rem 700 right now and have had 2 on XP-100s in the past. I have yet to find a load the 260 doesn't like. That being said, I am not looking for BR accuracy, but everything from 120s to 143s have shot below or just over 1".
24 Οκτ 2020 · My current kit is a conglomeration of Otis Tech components, Fix It Sticks, various small parts, and range tools. It fits into a relatively compact package and weighs in the neighborhood of 2 lbs. I did a write up on it a while back:
25 Νοε 2014 · Perhaps you can find a gunsmith fitting McGowen barrels to actions that will guarantee the precision you desire. Custom rifle gunsmith's using Krieger, Bartlein, Brux, and Lilja barrels will commonly guarantee that their completed rifles will shoot 1/2moa 3-shot groups.
1 Ιουν 2008 · I shot this group from the prone w/ bipod and squeeze bag support, in the grass/ gravel behind the 100 yd walkway on our range at work. The rifle is a Savage 116SS action, the McGowen barrel, B&C Duramaxx stock (bedded), Nikon BM 4.5-14x42 SFMD, and Harris bipod.
