19 Ιουν 2010 · Just installed the barrel (with a new nut and lug) and took it to the range. Three rounds to get on paper, followed by a 0.34" 3-shot group and a 0.71" 5-shot group. Needless to say, I'm EXTREMELY pleased.
12 Δεκ 2020 · I have heard a mix bag of reviews on the McGowen barrels. I ordered one last year simply because of the lead times on when I needed it. I have been able to work up loads in that 3/4 MOA range without a ton of trouble. My question is, are the Shilen, Benchmark, Brux etc. that much better than the McGowen? Will it be that noticeable of a difference?
1 Ιουν 2008 · I shot this group from the prone w/ bipod and squeeze bag support, in the grass/ gravel behind the 100 yd walkway on our range at work. The rifle is a Savage 116SS action, the McGowen barrel, B&C Duramaxx stock (bedded), Nikon BM 4.5-14x42 SFMD, and Harris bipod.
9 Δεκ 2020 · I have many McGowen barrels & no problems - outstanding accuracy! The owner of the McGowen barrel with the photo needs to address his angst with McGowen. My McGowen barrels sparkle with perfection - no horrible tool marks.
25 Νοε 2014 · Perhaps you can find a gunsmith fitting McGowen barrels to actions that will guarantee the precision you desire. Custom rifle gunsmith's using Krieger, Bartlein, Brux, and Lilja barrels will commonly guarantee that their completed rifles will shoot 1/2moa 3-shot groups.
16 Αυγ 2011 · On my admittedly less than totally accurate dial scale the 16.5" fluted barrel weighed approximately 2.5 lbs as compared to the 3.5 lbs the factory target barrel weighed. The balance in my stock with the sightmark red dot feels good.
1 Μαρ 2016 · I am currently running a .260AI McGowen prefit on my Savage Match rifle and it is by far the most accurate barrel I own. This thing shoots fantastic and has put me at the top or second place in all of our local matches over the last couple years.
