9 Δεκ 2018 · I've gotten two pre-fit build-to-order barrels from McGowen ... the 6.5-CM screwed on and Go/NoGo were perfect ... shoots better than new in my Tikka T3x TAC A1.
12 Δεκ 2020 · I have heard a mix bag of reviews on the McGowen barrels. I ordered one last year simply because of the lead times on when I needed it. I have been able to work up loads in that 3/4 MOA range without a ton of trouble. My question is, are the Shilen, Benchmark, Brux etc. that much better than the McGowen? Will it be that noticeable of a difference?
30 Σεπ 2022 · take a look at what the pros use for prs, or what the top gunsmiths/custom builders in the country are spinning up, and you'll find zero mention of mcgowen. IMO, they're a replacement barrel, like a pacnor, not a custom barrel like a bartlien, kreiger, lilja, etc.
23 Ιουν 2019 · I was wondering what you guys have experienced with Mcgowen barrels. I bought a 7 SAUM from them. My load development with 162’s resulted in 3-shot groups that were over 2”. I tried 184’s and ended up with 3 shot groups that were barely under an inch. I had expected better performance from a “custom” barrel.
9 Οκτ 2023 · I've literally used 6 McGowens now and every single one shoots .5s or better. My newest is a 300 NMai and I shot a 5/8" 3 round group at 200 yards over the weekend. I've built a pile of rifles with top tier barrels costing $1000+ and none of them would out shoot a McGowen.
12 Δεκ 2022 · Ordered a 22 creed barrel in 7 twist, barrel shows up marked 8 twist. Call up McGowen to see what’s up, dude acts like it’s no big deal and says the barrel is indeed 7 twist because that’s what the computer shows.
