30 Μαΐ 2019 · Looking down the bore of my McGowen vs my two higher end barrels is enlightening. The two high-end (cut-rifling) barrels are smooth and the McGowen has a lot of imperfections/tooling marks/pits. In defense of the McGowen though, it shoots amazing.
12 Δεκ 2020 · I have heard a mix bag of reviews on the McGowen barrels. I ordered one last year simply because of the lead times on when I needed it. I have been able to work up loads in that 3/4 MOA range without a ton of trouble. My question is, are the Shilen, Benchmark, Brux etc. that much better than the McGowen? Will it be that noticeable of a difference?
30 Σεπ 2022 · Overall, for a button-rifled barrel, I would say they are near the top. If you want to spend the money on a cut-rifled, hand-lapped barrel, be my guest. I have a few of those too and they shoot quite well.
23 Ιουν 2019 · I had McGowen duplicate the contour of a Ruger M77 RL Ultralight and fit it to my action in 260 Rem with an 8 twist. It has shown better accuracy than I have a right to expect from such a soda straw thin barrel. And their workmanship was exceptional. I would absolutely use them again.
12 Δεκ 2022 · Ordered a 22 creed barrel in 7 twist, barrel shows up marked 8 twist. Call up McGowen to see what’s up, dude acts like it’s no big deal and says the barrel is indeed 7 twist because that’s what the computer shows.
9 Μαΐ 2021 · I recently decided to build and chamber my first custom rifle and went with a stainless 1:8 twist 7mm mcgowen barrel. So far only fire forming loads but it shows really good potential.
22 Νοε 2011 · I have had two Hart barrels. One on a 270 Win and one on a 300 WM (Ruger Tanger). Both shoot very well. I currently have two Carbon Six barrels (McGowen blanks) a 308 Win and a 300 RUM. The RUM shoots very well, but shows pressure a little quicker with lower charge weights.
