30 Μαΐ 2019 · Looking down the bore of my McGowen vs my two higher end barrels is enlightening. The two high-end (cut-rifling) barrels are smooth and the McGowen has a lot of imperfections/tooling marks/pits. In defense of the McGowen though, it shoots amazing.
12 Δεκ 2020 · #1. I have heard a mix bag of reviews on the McGowen barrels. I ordered one last year simply because of the lead times on when I needed it. I have been able to work up loads in that 3/4 MOA range without a ton of trouble. My question is, are the Shilen, Benchmark, Brux etc. that much better than the McGowen?
30 Σεπ 2022 · I was wondering what you guys have experienced with Mcgowen barrels. I bought a 7 SAUM from them. My load development with 162’s resulted in 3-shot groups that were over 2”. I tried 184’s and ended up with 3 shot groups that were barely under an inch. I had expected better performance from a “custom” barrel.
9 Μαΐ 2021 · I've got a CarbonSix barrel on my 7 STW, which is a McGowen blank that is carbon wrapped. It shoots tiny groups. Put together a Remage 280AI with a Criterion barrel.
12 Φεβ 2023 · Has anyone had luck with Mcgowen Barrels that need a barrel nut? Click to expand... I have one threaded for a Remington action (Remage) chambered in .260 Rem and it shoots great.
1 Μαρ 2016 · I am currently running a .260AI McGowen prefit on my Savage Match rifle and it is by far the most accurate barrel I own. This thing shoots fantastic and has put me at the top or second place in all of our local matches over the last couple years.
21 Αυγ 2020 · I have a mcgowan on my 300wm. As others have said, reviews show that mcgowen in the past was hit or miss on quality. If i remember my research correctly, i had found an ownership change sometime around 2010-2014. My order was in 2017. Got the barrel screwed on using their barrel nut and it shoots great. 1.
