Health economics applies economic theories to the health sector and aims to maximize population health given constrained resources. It also describes the different branches of economics, including microeconomics which focuses on individual units and macroeconomics which looks at whole economies.
It defines economics and health economics, and discusses how health economics can help define and measure health, determine the value of health, analyze how health is produced efficiently and distributed, and help decide how to allocate limited resources and evaluate health systems.
