Paul reaffirms (like Jesus) God’s original design for marriage. The death of a spouse is the only instance in which God advocates remarriage. This is stated in 1 Corinthians 7:8-16, 39-40: I say to the unmarried and to widows: It is good for them if they remain as I am.
A person cannot secure a divorce for every reason stipulated in rabbinic tradition. For Jesus, the Scripture is clear that marriage is a lasting institution in which God binds two individuals together.

Divorce - remarriage: Divorce, while not God's desire, is not the unforgivable sin. Regardless of the circumstances, all divorced persons who have repented should be forgiven and allowed to remarry.
