1 ημέρα πριν · The deltoid ligament or medial ligament is a band that connects your lower leg bone (tibia) to the inner side of your ankle. This triangular shaped ligament supports your ankle and prevents it from over rotation to the outer side.
1 Φεβ 2022 · A strain or tear of the deltoid ligament results from rolling your ankle inward (pronation). The medial ligament is stronger than the lateral ligaments. This strength makes it less likely to strain or tear. Deltoid or medial ligament sprains account for only about 15% of ankle sprains.
Medial ankle stability is provided by the strong deltoid ligament, the anterior tibiofibular ligament and the bony mortise. Because of the bony articulation between the medial malleolus and the talus, medial ankle sprains are less common than lateral sprains .
18 Φεβ 2024 · The complex of the medial collateral ligaments of the ankle joint is collectively called deltoid ligament. It attaches the medial malleolus to multiple tarsal bones. The ligament is composed of two layers.
MRI helps diagnose and assess the extent of acute deltoid ligament injuries and associated osseous and soft tissue injuries. MRI is also effective in evaluating the chronic complications of deltoid ligament injury, including medial ankle instability and medial impingement syndromes.
26 Μαΐ 2024 · Patients may report medial ankle pain, with a tearing sensation at the time of injury [54]. More chronic cases may present with persisting medial ankle pain (particularly in the gutter), with ongoing swelling and tenderness [29, 30, 54].
1 Φεβ 2024 · The medial ankle ligament (the deltoid ligament) provides stability of the medial side of the talocrural joint. It is a complex anatomical structure consisting of six components, divided in superficial and deep layers, often separated by a fat pad [1], [2] (Table 1). It stabilizes the medial malleolus to talus, calcaneus and the navicular bone.
