13 Ιουλ 2011 · The medial temporal lobe (MTL) makes critical contributions to episodic memory, but its contributions to episodic future thinking remain a matter of debate. By one view, imagining future events relies on MTL mechanisms that also support memory for past events.

23 Σεπ 2009 · The ability to encode and retrieve our daily personal experiences, called episodic memory, is supported by the circuitry of the medial temporal lobe (MTL), including the hippocampus, which...
1 Αυγ 2003 · Whereas the medial temporal lobe has traditionally been associated with the encoding, storage and retrieval of long-term memories, the prefrontal cortex has been linked with cognitive control...
16 Ιουν 2015 · Medial temporal lobe atrophy represents loss of volume in the hippocampal area. MTA is sensitive for Alzheimer’s disease but not specific; it can be found in other dementias as well [ 34 ]. In prospective studies in non-demented subjects, MTA has been shown to predict future dementia in general and Alzheimer’s disease in particular [ 35 , 36 ].
1 Οκτ 2013 · This article discusses recent findings dealing with recognition memory and a long lasting involvement of the hippocampus and perirhinal cortex in episodic memory, based on functional imaging and lesion studies.
Although the role of the medial temporal lobe (MTL) and the hippocampus in episodic memory is well established, there is emerging evidence that these regions play a broader role in cognition, specifically in temporal processing.
2 Μαρ 2023 · Xie et al. combine intracranial recording, brain stimulation and lesion case study to show that the human medial temporal lobe is involved in the quality of short-term memory representation.
