Children eligible for a CHIP-funded Medicaid expansion may be covered either under the mandatory children’s group or under the optional targeted low-income child group. Expanded Medicaid eligibility after 1997 qualifies for CHIP funding. CHIP covers birth up to age 19 unless otherwise noted in parentheses.
