The Palace of Westminster was the monarch's principal residence in the late Medieval period. The predecessor of Parliament, the Curia Regis (Royal Council), met in Westminster Hall (although it followed the King when he moved to other palaces).
11 Μαΐ 2021 · Built within the Palace of Westminster between 1365 and 1366 on the command of King Edward III, the Jewel Tower was a space to guard and hold the king’s personal treasure. Edward’s treasure consisted of his ceremonial regalia (usually kept at the Tower of London), the jewellery and plate of the Crown, and his personal collection of jewels.
The Jewel Tower is important principally as a rare survival of the medieval Palace of Westminster, with much of its 14th-century architecture remaining relatively unaltered. In its 650-year history the tower has served three significant functions related to the government of England.

The Jewel Tower was built between 1365 and 1366 at the extreme southern end of the Palace of Westminster, which was nominally the chief residence of medieval English kings from the 11th to the 16th century. [1]
