28 Ιουλ 2020 · Inside-out meniscal repair is considered the gold standard for reparable tears of the medial and lateral menisci despite the recent popularity of all-inside devices. Accurate suture passage is required to perform a stable repair as well as to prevent inadvertent neurovascular injury from the suture needles.
Many different factors influence the post-operative meniscal repair rehabilitation outcomes, including type and location of the meniscal tear and repair. Consider taking a more conservative approach to range of motion, weight bearing, and rehab progression with more complex tears or all-inside meniscal repairs.
Tear patterns once ignored or thought to be irreparable, such as root tears and horizontal cleavage tears, have recently been undergoing repair with promising results. Newer techniques have also recently allowed surgeons to address postmeniscectomy knee pain.
