Jesus’ mentoring of the twelve disciples lasted three years. Both parties benefitted from the relationship. From the relationship between Jesus and His disciples, one can garner from the Scriptures vital lessons on how Jesus mentored His disciples which will be helpful to the church today.
These are the elements of mentoring... mentoring like Jesus did it… radical mentoring! If you do what Jesus did, you’ll replace your occasional, sporadic, but well-intentioned efforts with a confident, intentional, and fruitful approach that will transform lives.
As a Mentor, it is important that you view yourself as a co-learner with your mentees, that you also complete the assignments before group meetings, and that you set an example of open and honest sharing.

Spiritual mentoring, in order to be totally effective, must be wholistic. The following six steps will help us discover the biblical way of wholistic spiritual mentoring: Pray for them. Jesus prays and intercedes for us (John 17:20; Rom. 8:34; Heb. 7:25). The apostle Paul prayed for his mentees (1 Thess. 1:2, 3; 3:10–13).
