University Mentorship is a voluntary, selective program for first-year students which means students must apply to the program and be selected. Incoming, enrolled first-year students are eligible to apply online and will receive an email inviting them to apply.

The Mentorship Program connects first-year undergraduate students with upper-level student peer mentors who remember what it’s like to be a new student on campus. Our mentors represent a multitude of majors, backgrounds, interests, and identities.

The Mentorship staff assigns mentees to their mentor groups according to similarities in academic interest, extracurricular activities, and career goals. In the application, prospective mentees will be asked to indicate which criteria are most important to them.
The MEPO Mentoring program targets incoming first-year students who are participants of the Michigan Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (M-STEM) Academy. However, we have opportunities for other first-year and second-year students to join the program.
