If you’re short on time, here’s the quick answer: The mint mark on a Mercury dime is located on the reverse (or ‘tails’) side of the coin, near the bottom between the words “ONE” and “DIME”.
The Mercury dime was minted at the Philadelphia mint (no mint mark), the Denver mint (D mint mark), and the San Francisco mint (S mint mark). Mint marks can be found on the reverse of the coin as shown in the images below.
The Mercury dime is a ten-cent coin struck by the United States Mint from late 1916 to 1945. Designed by Adolph Weinman and also referred to as the Winged Liberty Head dime, it gained its common name because the obverse depiction of a young Liberty, identifiable by her winged Phrygian cap, was confused with the Roman god Mercury.

The Valuable Mint Marks. You will also want to look at your Mercury Dime to see where it was minted. Mercury Dimes minted in Philadelphia did not have a mint mark while coins minted in San Francisco will have an “S” mint mark and coins minted in Denver will have a “D” mint mark.
