Steel hardness conversion chart: Shows equivalents using Brinell, Rockwell B and C and Vickers scales. These values are approximate and for guidance only. Also hardness ranges for heat treated steel.
Brinell and Rockwell Hardness Conversion Chart - These Conversion Tables presents data in the Rockwell A, B, C, D, E and F hardness range on the relationship among Brinell hardness, Vickers hardness, Rockwell and Shore Scleroscope hardness
Compare Brinell hardness to Rockwell hardness. Useful when using prehard 4140 Steel or 316 stainless steel. Click here for the chart.
Use our steel hardness conversion calculator to convert between Brinell (HB), Rockwell C (HRC), Rockwell B (HRB), and Vickers (HV) hardness scales. Get approximate tensile strength equivalents for steel. Enter values and calculate conversions instantly.
Hardness Conversion Chart with standards including Brinell, Rockwell B scale, Rockwell C scale, Vickers and others.
These corrections are approximate only and represent the averages to the nearest 1/2 Rockwell number. 1: A 10 mm steel ball was used for 450 BHN and below. A 10 mm carbide ball was used above 450 BHN. Numbers were developed by Wilson Instruments in the Wilson Standards laboratory and are not derived from ASTM.
Reference Table: Steel hardness conversion chart - all values approximate. Brinell Hardness HB Rockwell HRC Rockwell HRB Vickers HV N/mm2. Since the various types of hardness tests do not all measure the same combination of material properties, conversion from one hardness scale to another is only an approximate process.
