We first collected 32 symbols/metaphors and 5 colors which HCI-adepts associated with security and privacy in two brainstorming sessions ( = 8, each). Those were clustered into the themes visualized here (grey boxes) in a third study ( = 6).
Taken together, the metaphorical frames highlight two key concerns of individuals: their struggle for control over a dominating future, on the one hand, and the problem of trust in collective means of privacy protection, on the other hand.
