They can also be used to add depth and meaning to a story, creating a richer and more engaging reading experience for the audience.

28 Μαΐ 2015 · Grammatical metaphor can thus be seen to introduce a tension between grammar (a text’s wording) and semantics (a text’s meaning) so that the language has to be read on at least two levels (i.e. metaphorically), with one level directly reflecting the grammar, and beyond that another symbolically related level of semantics.
Two types of grammatical metaphor, ideational metaphor and interpersonal metaphor, are explained and illustrated. This article focuses on the concept of 'grammatical metaphor' as it has been introduced in the framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics.
