In this study, the overall outcomes as scored by the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society score were similar and the incidence of recurrent metatarsalgia was similar. The key difference was that the risk of stiffness was less for DMMO (normal movement or slight stiffness was 62% vs 43%).
Metatarsalgia is a common foot disease with a multitude of causes. Proper identification of underlying diseases is mandatory to formulate an adequate treatment. Multiple surgical solutions are available to treat metatarsalgia.
