5 Ιουν 2021 · I had a D&C on April 15 and at my follow up appointment they found a large blood clot. They gave me cytotec, which didn’t work, then a procedure in office to try to remove the clot, which got part of it, and then methergine, which also didn’t really work.
Day 16 post d&c 9:30 AM: took 3 misoprostol orally and 1 methergine pill and 800mg ibuprofen with a breakfast sandwich and gatorade, put on those always disposable overnight underwear (diaper). Pretty terrible cramps picked up after a while but not unmanageable.
My doctor prescribed 2 days worth of methergine after my D&C. When she initially told me about the prescription I was a bit out of it from the procedure so I didn't ask many questions. Now I've picked it up and see that it causes contractions- and has a warning label about operating heavy machinery...
1 Οκτ 2021 · The overall success rate for medical treatment was 88%. Several treatment regimens were described, including monotherapy with progestins, GnRH-a, methotrexate, CHC, uterotonics, danazol, and combinations of the above. Progestins, GnRH-a, and methotrexate were significantly more efficacious compared to chance alone.
Notably, the typical treatment options for uterine bleeding, such as D&C, can cause uterine trauma and paradoxically worsen the bleeding in the presence of an acquired AVM.
Did anyone else take methergine after D&C? I guess it's supposed to help with bleeding and contracting your uterus...
Intervention(s): Medical treatment with progestins, gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists (GnRH-a), methotrexate, combined hormonal contraception , uterotonics, danazol, or combination of the above.
