21 Αυγ 2022 · Dosage of metronidazole for dogs. According to the NOAH Compendium of Data Sheets for Animal Medicines, the recommended dose of metronidazole for dogs is 50 mg/kg/day (or about 22 mg/lb/day) for 5-7 days – this can be split into 25 mg/kg (or about 11 mg/lb) twice per day if needed.
Metronidazole is an antibiotic especially effective against anaerobic infections. In addition, it has anti-inflammatory properties in the large intestine and is an effective anti-diarrhea medication. It is also an effective antibiotic against certain protozoal infections, especially Giardia.
INDICATIONS: Control of pruritus (itching) associated with allergic dermatitis and control of atopic dermatitis in dogs at least 12 months of age. IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: Do not use Apoquel in dogs less than 12 months of age or those with serious infections.
