17 Ιουλ 2007 · METROGEL (0.75% & 1%) and METROCREAM (0.75%)(metronidazole topical gel and cream) are indicated for: • topical application in the treatment of inflammatory papules, pustules, and erythema of rosacea. Patients with dry or sensitive skin may prefer using the cream formulation (i.e., METROCREAM).
The recommended dose is 50 mg metronidazole per kg bodyweight per day, for 5-7 days. The daily dose may be divided equally for twice daily administration (i.e. 25 mg/kg bodyweight twice daily)....
21 Αυγ 2022 · Dosage of metronidazole for dogs. According to the NOAH Compendium of Data Sheets for Animal Medicines, the recommended dose of metronidazole for dogs is 50 mg/kg/day (or about 22 mg/lb/day) for 5-7 days – this can be split into 25 mg/kg (or about 11 mg/lb) twice per day if needed.
Metronidazole is a nitroimidazole antibiotic effective in eliminating anaerobic bacterial infections and some protozoal parasitic infections like Giardia, Entamoeba, Balantidium, and Trichomonas. It is available as Flagyl and Metrogel and is also sold as a generic. The medication is bactericidal.

Metronidazole is an antibiotic especially effective against anaerobic infections. In addition, it has anti-inflammatory properties in the large intestine and is an effective anti-diarrhea medication. It is also an effective antibiotic against certain protozoal infections, especially Giardia.
